Crawfest is returning to Shreveport for its fifth year. The three-day festival will be hosted at Betty Virignia Park from March 17th through the 19th. Festival goers can enjoy food from from ten different vendors, listen to live music, and take part in family friendly activities.

The Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation of Louisiana (WERLA) is the only wildlife rescue in North Louisiana and is located right here in Shreveport.

WERLA is a state and federally licensed 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Their mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release sick, injured, or orphaned wildlife back into their natural habitat.

First responders were called to the scene on the 7500 block of S. Lakeshore Dr. near Bird Island around 2:43 p.m. when a man reportedly fell overboard. Initially, first responders thought the man may have fallen into the parish part of the lake. The Community Lighthouse project would build a network of neighborhood resilience hubs at faith and community institutions across the parish.
