SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – More than 17 hours after a crash involving an 18-wheeler hauling produce Monday morning on I-49N in Frierson, the interstate is open again.

It happened just after 8 a.m. at Exit 186 (LA Hwy 175 / Kingston / Frierson), according to Louisiana State Police.

An 18-wheeler loaded with produce ended up partially hanging over the side of the LA Hwy 175 overpass.

No one was seriously injured, but state police said it was expected to take several hours to clean up the scene and recover the big rig. Drivers were diverted to La Hwy 175 then to La Hwy 3276, where motorists can re-enter I-49 while work was ongoing.

All lanes of traffic were reopened Tuesday morning around 1:30 a.m.

It was one of two separate major accidents Monday morning on I-49. A section of the interstate just south of Kings Hwy was also shut down for just over an hour after an incident there just before 11 a.m. that caused multiple accidents. Police say an oversized load pulled down a utility line across the interstate. Traffic was backed up at least a mile there before the interstate was reopened, and it remained congested as of 12:30 p.m.
