Shreveport Police Chief Alan Crump recognized a group of officers for their heroic actions following an automobile crash earlier this month.

On July 12, 2018, just after 11:30 p.m., Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to calls for assistance from a Shreveport Detective who was on his way home from a call out. Officers arrived to find a truck on fire and a man trapped inside. Officers worked together and were able to overturn the vehicle and rescue the driver moments before the vehicle became completely engulfed in flames.

On July 24, 2018, those officers were given the Life-Saving Award, one of the department’s most prestigious awards, at a ceremony at today’s Shreveport City Council Meeting.

Those recognized were:

K9 Sergeant Dan Sawyer, Sergeant Mike Jones, K9 Corporal Chris Hodges, Corporal Jesse Alexander, Officer Darrell Favis, Officer David Francis, Officer Jason Booze, Officer Roderick Lewis, Officer LeAnn Hodges, and Detective Rodney Stewart.
