A Shreveport man wanted in connection with a morning death is now in police custody charged with murder.
Shortly after 9:15 a.m. on May 18, 2018, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a home located in the 2400 block of Stonewall Avenue, relative to a welfare concern. Officers were advised that a female who resided at the residence did not arrive at work as scheduled. Officers entered the residence to check the woman’s welfare and located a deceased woman inside, later identified as 59 year old Linda Howard Johnson. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the manner of death.
As the investigation into the death progressed, authorities gathered information and evidence leading them to identify 49 year old Steven Richardson as a suspect in the crime. Law enforcement officials from local and federal agencies worked collaboratively in efforts to locate Richardson, who was arrested Friday evening, following a traffic stop in Love County Oklahoma. Richardson, who was driving a brown 2012 Ford F150, was taken into police custody without incident and booked into the Love County Jail. The truck was impound as evidence in the crime. Investigators from the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit will be traveling to Oklahoma for purposes of interviewing Richardson in reference to his alleged involvement in the murder. Richardson faces charges of Second Degree Murder. Special thanks to the United States Marshal’s Office Fugitive Task Force and the Love County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in the quick apprehension of the alleged suspect.
