CADDO PARISH, La. – The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash in Mooringsport that left a man dead after his Nissan pickup truck was hit by a Kansas City Southern train Friday evening.

According to Sheriff Steve Prator, it happened just before 6 p.m. on LA Hwy. 538 between Pitt and Daniels streets.

Deputies believe the victim may have been outside or partially outside the vehicle at the time the truck was hit by the southbound train.

The victim died at the scene and his identity has not been released. There were no other injuries reported.
