SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – President Donald Trump has scheduled a trip to Monroe next week to rally for Republican candidate for Governor Eddie Rispone.

The rally is scheduled for November 6 at 7 p.m. at the Monroe Civic Center.

Those who want to go to the event can request tickets here.

President Trump held a Republican rally in Lake Charles ahead of the October 12 election. Since then, he has endorsed Rispone in his race against Democratic incumbent Governor John Bel Edwards.

“I am excited to welcome President Trump back to Louisiana! Because of Edwards’ failed, liberal policies our state is ranked dead last in every category. With the President’s help we will defeat liberal John Bel Edwards, lower our taxes, bring down car insurance, ban sanctuary cities and finally do for Louisiana what President Trump has done for the nation” said Rispone.

Vice President Mike Pence held a private fundraiser earlier this week in Baton Rouge for Rispone and held a GOP unity rally the week after the October 12 election.

Monroe is the biggest city inside Republican Congressman Ralph Abraham’s district.

Abraham, who represents the 5th Congressional District, came in third in the October 12 primary election and has also endorsed Rispone. A recent poll showed Rispone leading in the district 51 to 41 percent over Edwards.

Congressman Abraham said he’s appreciative of President Trump making the time to visit Monroe next week.

“The people of Louisiana’s 5th District love their President and support him all the way. His visit to northeast Louisiana will be a historic moment this region will never forget” said Rep. Abraham.

The Edwards campaign called the visit a political move.

“It’s no surprise that when it’s time for politicking, the President is doing what’s expected of him and supporting a member of his political party. But when it comes time for governing, Gov. Edwards will continue the good working relationship he and President Trump have had.” said Eric Holl, spokesman for John Bel for Louisiana.
