SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Shreveport police say a two-year-old who was shot in her Sunset Acres home Thursday night is expected to survive.

Police and fire responded to a shooting on Elmhurst St. between Canal Blvd. and Bowie St. around 9:20 p.m. Investigators say the gun was discharged by someone inside the home.

Police say a toddler was shot below the knee and taken to Ochsner LSU Health in serious condition.

The shooting is still under investigation.
