BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Not long after applications opened, Entergy Louisiana announced Friday that it is no longer accepting forms from customers for the $200 bill credit.

Entergy first announced Wednesday, Sept. 20. that customers could start applying noon Friday for a one-time $200 credit on their bill. By 1:32 p.m., Entergy said on Facebook applications were closed after high demand.

The company said Wednesday, “Entergy’s shareholders will contribute $1 million in bill relief across Entergy Louisiana’s service area in north, central, southeast and southwest Louisiana in order to address the higher-than-expected bills caused by this summer’s historic heat.”

To qualify, Entergy said customers were required to have a total household income of up to 250% of the federal poverty level, equaling $75,000 for a family of four.

Entergy customers who qualified applied through United Way. To receive the credit, customers needed to have a photo ID in the form of a driver’s license, state-issued ID or passport and proof of income.
