KTAL NBC 6 News and KMSS FOX 33 weekend anchor and reporter Maddy Wierus is a second-generation journalist from the Chicagoland area. She’s a graduate of Illinois State University, where she started her television career. She has since made stops in Peoria, Illinois, South Bend, Indiana and Rochester, Minnesota (yes, she loves the winter).
Some of her most notable coverage experience includes the Illinois gubernatorial election between Bruce Rauner and J.B. Pritzker, the presidential candidacy of former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg and the outcry in Minneapolis following the murder of George Floyd. During the 2020 presidential election, Ivanka Trump shared a clip of Maddy’s newscast that received over two million views.
When it comes to storytelling, she’s a strong advocate of being a voice to the underrepresented. It takes courage to tell your story. Having a reliable platform to address your experiences is vital to providing authentic journalism. Maddy will take the time to understand the full picture, do some deep investigating, and gather important information that viewers need to know. If you want your voice to be heard, don’t hesitate to email her at firstname.lastname@example.org or connect with her on Twitter.
Maddy is very new to Louisiana, so if you have any recommendations for delicious local eats or places to check out, send them her way! In her free time, she loves laying by the pool, traveling, laughing at TikToks, and watching Law & Order: SVU. She is very excited to meet new people, so if you see her — say hi!
