Fernanda Hernandez

Fernanda Hernandez is a morning co-anchor for NBC 6 News Today from 5-7 am and FOX 33 Good Day from 7-8 am. She was promoted to the morning team in December 2020, after hosting KTAL’s lifestyle show, Loving Living Local, for two years.

Fernanda is a native of Querétaro, Mexico and a graduate of Texas A&M University – Texarkana, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English Literature. She was awarded Undergrad of the Year upon graduation in 2015, and in 2019 she received the Distinguished Young Alumni Award.

Fernanda began her career in media in Texarkana as an intern at local online news outlet, TXK Today News. She went on to work full-time as a general assignment reporter for TXK Today, where she began to develop as a journalist.

In 2017, Fernanda accepted a Multi-Media Account Executive position with KTAL NBC 6, where she focused on media marketing and executing innovative marketing campaigns on television. She also worked as talent for NBC 6, taking part in commercials, voiceovers, and studio interviews. Fernanda also wrote freelance for publications such as Four States Living Magazine.

After a year of working behind the scenes, Fernanda felt a calling to get back in front of the camera and went on to host Loving Living Local and was later promoted to morning anchor.

Fernanda called Texarkana home since she was nine years old and moved to Louisiana in 2018. Since becoming a Shreveport local, Fernanda has immersed herself in the culture and strives to showcase the beauty of the people of the Ark-La-Tex, their successes, and their efforts to make this a great place to live.

When Fernanda isn’t on-air, you can find her hanging out with her husband and daughter, at the gym, traveling, writing poetry, listening to music, especially her favorite album, Turnover’s Peripheral Vision, or watching movies.
