KMSS Fox News First at 9 Anchor and Reporter Alexandra Meachum is a Shreveport native who first joined NBC 6 in 2014, working behind the scenes as a production assistant, and was later promoted to a producer before becoming a reporter and multimedia journalist in May 2015.
Alex is a Shreveport native which has given her an advantage in knowing the community. She’s been recognized for her in-depth storytelling that’s gained her award nominations, including an analysis of poverty in Northwest Louisiana. She’s covered political campaigns for news stations across the Four States Area. She also has a passion for science reporting and wildlife conservation.
Alex studied both print and broadcast journalism at LSU Shreveport where she graduated with degrees in Mass Communication and Political Science. She worked as the Managing Editor for The Almagest. She won first place in the Southwest Journalism Competition. She also wrote freelance for publications, including The Forum and SB Magazine.
Her hobbies include reading, especially science fiction novels, spending time with her family and pets, cooking and her favorite food is Louisiana’s raw oysters.
