SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux held a press conference Thursday afternoon on the the deadly police-involved shooting of Alonzo Bagley that took place on Feb. 3.

During the conference, Mayor Arceneaux said watching the body cam footage was ‘heartbreaking.’

“It was hard for me to watch[…]and I’m sure it was excruciating for the family to watch,” the Mayor said.

Mayor Arceneaux also described the disciplinary actions being taken against Officer Alexander Tyler, the 23-year-old Shreveport police officer that fatally shot Bagley.

“Officer Alexander Tyler has been charged with negligent homicide and surrendered for arrest without incident[…]Officer Tyler has been placed on administrative leave pending the conclusion of the investigative process.”

Arceneaux went on to say now is the time for the community to begin the healing process.

“We should surround the family with our love, support, and prayers.”
